BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) – Local organizations brought in summer with a splash as Raleigh County United for Prevention hosted its inaugural Splash Into Summer event.
The event brought together local organizations like Beckley ARH, the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office, and others to engage members of the community outside the workplace and build positive relationships.
“Most families when they meet agencies or any of these outreach workers, they meet them at a time when they’re in crisis, that they’re at their lowest,” said Raleigh County United for Prevention Executive Director, Kellie Gunnoe. “This is an opportunity for people to meet each other where they are, and we do that through just having fun together.”
Community Relations Officer with the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office, B.J. Adkins stepped up to volunteer for the dunk tank at the event. Others offered facepainting, information and resources, and various activities to foster community engagement in Raleigh County.
