Through engagement of youth leadership groups such as ARH’s SADD, and Salvation Army’s Red Shield Youth Center, we put youth in the driver seat to address substance use prevention efforts among their peers. Youth are involved with student led projects, tobacco/alcohol retailer compliance checks, and peer to peer education
Youth Leadership in Action
Are you a middle school or high school student in Raleigh County? YOU can be involved in making your community better!
Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) is a youth coalition designed for youth to take leadership in their community. Some schools have their own SADD or RAZE teams, but this is meant to be an opportunity outside of school time. Students are able to be part of both their school team and our youth coalition.
Monthly meetings are held in partnership with Beckley ARH on the first Monday of each month at 5:00 p.m. at 200 Virginia St, Beckley, WV 25801.
Student-Led Initiatives
This is a youth driven initiative; youth involved select service projects that are most important to them! Past involvement includes community mural, community outreach events, tobacco and alcohol compliance checks, food and supply collections for resource closets, booths at festivals, leading education presentations, and spreading positive affirmations across the community.
